Most text editors have their options bar stationary, which I don’t think it’s clever. Because it’s always there when you don’t need it. But it’s kind of far away from where you actually need it.
I took a different approach, I called it the show-it-only-when-you-need-it approach. The only time formatting options show is when some text is selected. And they display inline, right next to the selected element.
